Hey, I did this cause I wanted to, not cause everyone else did it. I'm no sheep. Stop looking at me like that. You know what? Fine! There I took out some sections just to spite you. Not good enough? Fine I'll add things no one else did! What do you think about that?
CONLAN HAS JOINED THE PARTY Selecting Conlan: "I'm on the job." Deselecting Conlan: (muttered) "Damnit."
ENGAGING IN COMBAT » "We've got some incoming! Remember our tactics, and watch each other's backs!" » "Time to do what I get hired for." » "Looks like we've got some imminent violence." » "This could get ugly... mostly because those things're... ya know, ugly." » "You ever get that feeling? Like there's a sword in your chest? Cause you're about to."
EXITING COMBAT » "And we live to fight another day." » "Everyone pull through that? Sound off..." » "First thing; we tend to our wounded." » "Well, that's more death and blood. Wonderful." » "I guess we call that a win."
DEATH CRIES » "No good... I'm done..." » "Sorry guys, you'll have to go one without me." » "Mom... Dad... I'm coming..." » "If I'm going, you're coming with me you son of a bitch."
ENTERING LOCATIONS (ENTERING OSTAGAR) "Well... I guess it was inevitable that I'd come back here one day." (ENTERING LOTHERING) "Ahh look at that. Nice bunch of dirt poor folks. You can really see how the local nobility takes care of the place can't you?" (ENTERING CIRCLE TOWER) "Ya know, I've been in enough fights to know when someone is just itching to pull their sword out. And the way those Templars look at the Mages here..." (ENTERING ORZAMMAR) "Well this is... it's big. It's a lot bigger then I would have thought. And look, they built their city over rivers of lava. What's the point of that I wonder? I mean I see the how, I'm just not getting the why..." (ENTERING DALISH CAMP) "The very second I walked into the forest, I got that feeling. The same one I get when I walk into the fancy parts of Denerim. That feeling where everyone is staring at you, confused as to what could possibly have made you think you had any right to be here, and that you should leave immediately." (ENTERING REDCLIFFE) "You know they used to tell the story of "The Arl of Redcliffe" around hearths in winter back at Denerim. How the Grey Warden and Alistair rode in on pure white steeds, single handedly fought through an army of re-animated corpses, rescued the Arl's family from a demon, and then used the ashes of Andraste herself to revive the Arl. Sounds like a load of crap to me." (ENTERING DENERIM) "Ahh... home sweet home. While we're here, I should feed my cat. Okay, technically I don't have a cat, but one of the rats in my house has to be at least cat sized by now." (ENTERING HAVEN) "You know, not that I wanna seem like I'm knocking cults and all, but could these people have tried harder to be creepy and suspicious? I think only a big glowing sign saying "We're up to something!" would do it." (ENTERING SOLDIERS PEAK) "Fantastic, a bunch of centuries old ruins, full of dead things that don't stay dead. It's such a comfort to see how peaceful our rest will be." (ENTERING KORCARI WILDS) "Yeah yeah, trees, wilder folk and witches. Let's just move on."

Development » Approval; Getting Conlan's approval isn't terribly hard. Make the moral choices, help people out when they need it. Though he'd never admit that it would get approval. Being smart in a fight, not doing things that would get you or other people killed. Taking care of people you work with are all things he would openly encourage. » Disapproval; Conlan's disapproval is a complex thing. He understands that sometimes people need to do questionable things to get by. And when he does disapprove, he does so in small increments though, -1 and -2. When someone is purposefully mean or cruel with no real reason, he'll disapprove. He will openly disapprove of treating your comrades badly, and that will net much higher disapproval. If Conlan's dispproval drops very low, he will leave, or even turn against you. He has a history of turning on people who he disagrees with too much. » Romancing; Romancing Conlan is similar to romancing Zevran in the game. It's easy at first, but will get more difficult as time goes on. Though unlike Zev, you would need to make the first move. He wouldn't try anything until he thought someone was interested. (At least not on purpose) After your intentions were made obvious, Conlan would be very receptive, flirting right back. Though any questions about his history would either be met with jokes, flippant remarks, or even blatant lies that make his background seem less important, or interesting then it really was. Though spending a lot of time talking to him, and revealing your own past might get him to open up on a few true stories. And the more he spills, the more he's likely to spill next time. By the time you got Conlan to admit everything about his past, his parents, how he used to think vs how he thinks now, his feelings for you would be pretty strong. (This is the same basic deal for someone not romancing him.) » Breaking Conlan; That's right, just like Leliana, and Alistair, you can in fact break the poor boy and harden him to the world. If you convince him that his fathers ideals weren't worthless, and even though he never became a "Ser" he's still lived up to them, he'll drift a bit more into a knight in shining armor type of person. Alternately, he could be convinced that those ideals were foolish and he was right to abandon them. This will result in Conlan becoming far more pragmatic, and ignoring his conscience in favor of getting things done. » Licking Lampposts in Winter; Getting Conlan into bed is not exceptionally difficult. He will try to avoid getting involved with someone he works with, which means most of the Grey Wardens are out, and anyone he's on a mission with. Other then that, he will accept any kisses, and tent invitations starting at warm. At care he'll be quick to make the first move. Though don't expect him to be monogamous, and he wouldn't expect the same thing in return. At Adore things may change, and he'll start to be unsure of how to handle things. He'll start to get a bit flustered, because it's brand new territory for him. By the time you hit love, and it'll be hard road, he'll be completely yours.
GIFTS Conlan is a practical man, and he's used to living in a hovel and moving around a lot. He prefers gifts he can carry, and that will have some function. Although gifts of value that he believes no one would give to a commoner will also get a large amount of approval.
» Ogrhen's Special Brew - A bottle of some of the finest alchohol produced by the famed Ogrhen himself. Best to be drunk slowly, and with something soft to fall on. (When Conlan was paid for a job with the gift of his shield, he also received a bottle of this. It's some of the best he's ever had and it knocked him on his ass. He's never been able to afford another one.) » Chasind Sack Mead - A brutishly strong honey liquor reminiscent of warm summer days, apple blossoms on the wind with an unexpected aftertaste of father going off to war, never to return. Bitter to say the least. (Conlan once was once given a flagon of this in a tavern in the Bannorn. He heard the description and felt that never before had he had a drink that so accurately captured life in Thedas.) » Fine Leather Boots - A pair of boots made from soft but tough leather, and lined with soft rabbit fur. (Conlan has always had to make do, and is used to getting rough leather boots that aren't lined, when he can get new boots at all.) » Weapons Care Kit - This kit comes with several high quality oils, two sharpening stones, and several soft clothes for the care of a sword and shield. (Conlan has a few rags, an old sharpening stone, and a running low bottle of oil to take care of his weapons with. Giving him something that would actually let him take care of his weapons would mean a lot.) » Map of Ostagar - This tattered map was once used by the King of Ferelden to plan his strategy (a very significant gift, and a reminder of a time when Conlan was still a boy who lived for his dreams. Also the fact that the gift would be extremely valuable otherwise, and that you would give it to him anyways would dramatically raise his approval.) » Silver Gauntlets of Riverdain - These gauntlets were forged based on the armor of Callanhad the Silver Knight. They were presented by Loghain Mac Tir to a young soldier for heroic actions during the last days of the Orlesian occupation. The soldier however, vanished during the fifth Blight. (Not only functional, but these guantlets also speak to Conlan's childhood dreams of being a knight and rising from commoner to hero.) » (PLOT) Family Crest (only if Conlan is not "broken") - If Conlan is conversed with enough, he may reveal the crest his father intended to use as a knight. The crest could then be painted on Conlan's shield. » (PLOT) Bloodlines - Angus Delaine spent most of his fortune to see this sword crafted by one of the finest smiths in Denerim, including numerous enchantments. He taught his son the importance of a knight's sword, and called the weapon bloodlines, intending for it to be passed down through the generations of his family. When Angus disappeared, so too did the sword.
"RACY" TENT INVITATIONS (ranked by how much approval you have) » "If I'm overstepping my bounds here, let me know... but I think we should be a bit more intimately acquainted." » "If you're sure that's what you want. But I'll warn you, I'm not the kind of guy who gets attached. » "Maybe we should stop and think about this for a second... aw hell, thinking's overrated." » "Come on, let's stop dancing around this. I know it's something we both want." » "You know...I've been a lot of fights, and sometimes, the best plan is to throw caution to the wind, and take the direct approach." (kiss her)
ROMANTIC TENT INVITATIONS » "... I used to think that it was the best idea to not get involved, but... even with everything we're going through, I just can't help... I don't care about the circumstances anymore. I just want to wake up next to you, not just now, but everyday."
TENT REJECTIONS » "Sorry I've got a strict policy on not doing that kind of thing." » "Yeah I umm...I've got things I need to be doing right now." » "Darkspawn, Blight, murder, death and carnage, and that's all you can think about?" » "...I think you may have me confused with someone who is willing." » (>25 Approval) "You are completely off your nut. Seriously, how skewed is your view of the world?"
